PM Hun Sen Urges China to Begin Upgrading NR7 from Kratie to Laos Border

The project to build, expand and upgrade the 96km section of NR7 connecting from Romat village in Kratie province to the Lao border will be implemented soon with grant aid from China, which is a continuation of the newly inaugurated Kratie- Romeat road.

Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen confirmed the project during the inauguration ceremony of the NR7 Kratie- Romeat section on 7 February.

“Our Chinese friends have two more duties. The first one is to connect NR7 all the way to Laos border by expanding and improving the quality,” said PM Hun Sen.

“While the second duty is the build a new bridge crossing Mekong River from Kratie to Kampong Thom,” he added.

NR7 was built and put into operation but has been damaged and is required to be upgraded.

According to Samdech Hun Sen, the Chinese government has already decided to provide the budget for the project.

The Shanghai Construction Company will be in charge of building the road.
