US$22-million Chom Chao flyover and underpass officially inaugurated

Chom Chao flyover and underpass were officially inaugurated on 31 March to facilitate the flow of increasing traffic.

The inauguration ceremony was held under the presidency of Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia.

Cost of US$2 million in construction, the Choam Chao flyover and underpass took 33 months to be built by the Overseas Cambodian Investment Company (OCIC).

The construction of the flyover is divided into 3 parts: the main flyover connecting Russian Blvd to NR3, the second flyover connecting the main flyover to Russian Blvd and to Veng Sreng Road, the third flyover connecting Veng Sreng Road to NR3.

The project also has two underpasses: one connecting Veng Sreng Road to NR4 and another from NR4 to Russian Blvd.

Currently, Phnom Penh has 6 flyovers that are in use, including Kbal Thnal flyover, 7-January flyover, Stung Meanchey flyover, January-5 flyover, Cambodia-China Friendship Sen Sok flyover, and the Chom Chao flyover and underpass.

Currently, Cambodia is building another flyover along NR5, at the intersection of the Russey Keo cable-stayed bridge across the Tonle Sap River, which connects NR5 and the Chroy Changva satellite city.
