Kandal Authorities Establish Special Working Group to Strengthen Waste Management

The Kandal Provincial Administration has established a special committee and sub-committee to strengthen waste management throughout the province and promote a clean, green community.

According to the order dated 25 April 2022, the committee has a total of 14 members, chaired by the mayor or district governor. The role is to prepare legal documents and ensure proper waste storage, and raise awareness of the clean city campaign.

Meanwhile, the sub-committee has a total of 9 members, chaired by the commune or Sangkat chief. The role is to support the committee, conduct on-site inspections, and press charges if improper waste disposal is discovered.

According to Sub-Decree No. 113 on Urban Solid Waste Management, improper solid waste management is subjected to up to 2 million riels in fines.
