Kandal Provincial Administration, JICA Discuss Flood Protection in Kandal Province

A JICA working group has a meeting with the Kandal Provincial Administration to discuss flood protection and drainage improvement in Kandal province to connect the flood protection and drainage system from Phnom Penh.

The project was discussed in a meeting on 09 June between HE Nuth Puth Dara, Deputy Governor of Kandal Province and the JICA team at the provincial administration, with the participation of relevant officials authorities and departments.

In the meeting, HE Nuth Puth Dara expressed his support for JICA’s floods protection and drainage improvement project in Phnom Penh because Kandal province and Phnom Penh are always affected by the floods caused by heavy rainfall.

This project is very important to help avoid flooding roads and villages, he said.

He urged the relevant departments and officers to provide good cooperation with the JICA team on a regular basis, especially to provide all the data that the working group wants to help make the project a good result.

The Phnom Penh Capital Administration and the JICA Project working group have currently been studying the feasibility of implementing the flood protection project and improving the drainage system in Phnom Penh. (Read more)
