Three Major Reservoir Rehabilitation Projects to Support Mondulkiri Tourism Master Plan

The project to rehabilitate and restore three major water reservoirs in Mondulkiri province is an integral part of the work to support the tourism development master plan for Mondulkiri province. The project was part of the discussion among the members of the steering committee for the implementation of the Mondulkiri Tourism Development Plan 2021-2035 on 04 July 2022 at the Pichreda Hotel, Mondulkiri Province.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology is supporting the master plan for tourism development in Mondulkiri province and presented the progress of the three projects to ensure water supply to Mondulkiri province which includes:

First, the O’Te reservoir located in Oreang district, Sen Monorom city can store water of about 10 million cubic metres and is currently 59% complete.

Second, the Tupnub Leu reservoir located in Sokdom commune, Sen Monorom city has the capacity to store about 200,000 cubic metres of water and is 90% complete.

Third, the Tupnub Krom reservoir in Sokdom commune, Sen Monorom city has the capacity to store about 300,000 cubic metres of water and is about 90% complete.

These three dams will supply clean water to the livelihoods of 3,400 families in Sen Monorom city and 2,000 families in Oreang district in Mondulkiri province.

In addition, the three basins will serve as the most important water sources for irrigating agro-industrial crops over 1,500 hectares of land, as well as contribute to the development of tourism in Mondulkiri. (Read more)
