Gov’t to Expand National Road Section from SR Town to New Airport to Four Lanes

A national road from downtown Siem Reap to the new airport will be expanded from two to four and six lanes, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transports (MPWT).

MPWT Minister HE Sun Chanthol said at a press conference on 27 October that the section is 16km. Some areas will be expanded to four lanes, while some will be six lanes.

“Currently, we are under negotiation with a private firm, expecting the construction will begin soon,” said HE Sun Chanthol.

To date, the construction of the US$880-million Angkor-Siem Reap International Airport has been over 44% completed and is scheduled to operate in October next year.
