PM ​Hun Sen Proposes Multiple Directions Forwards to ASEAN Smart Cities

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen at the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Mayors ‘Forum proposed multiple recommendations for building and connecting ASEAN smart cities. 

The suggestions aim to further strengthen and promote ASEAN cooperation to build a sustainable and resilient ASEAN Community, which include: 

– Ensuring peace, security, stability and prosperity, which are the key foundation for building smart, resilient and sustainable cities. 

– Improving the quality of life of people with well-being, prosperity and resilience 

– Urban development requires the participation of all stakeholders including local administrations, the private sector, development partners, national and international institutions, and locals 

– All municipal administrations must work together to accelerate and expand the potential of ASEAN smart city connectivity by jointly promoting digitalisation 

– All municipal administrations need to further exchange knowledge and experiences about smart cities and further build more physical and digital infrastructure 

During the ASEAN Mayors’ Meeting, PM Hun Sen also requested the ASEAN Local Governments to support the “ASEAN Green Agreement”.
