Construction of Arey Ksat Bridge Set to Begin by End 2023

The Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridges Project (Old Market – Chroy Changvar & Chroy Changvar – Arey Ksat) is set to begin construction by the end of 2023 as the legal procedures of the project are yet to be completed. 

The timeline was confirmed by a spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport  Heang Sotheayuth on 12 December. 

Mr Sotheayuth said there is still no clear information on the construction timeline or when the bridge will be built as there are more procedures still underway. 

“However, according to the relevant documents, it is possible that the construction of these bridges will begin by the end of 2023 at the latest,” said Mr Sotheayuth. 

“We need to complete the loan application with the Korean side and later have to choose the contractor, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of the first half of 2023,” he added. 

The construction of this project will take around four years, including one-year of document clearing, according to the same source. 

The Government of the Republic of Korea provided a loan of US$245,909,000 for the construction of the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge (Old Market-Chroy Changvar & Chroy Changvar-Arey Ksat). (Read more)
