Gov’t Approves 3,827 Construction Projects in 2022 Worth US$2.6bn

In 2022, the Cambodian government approved a total of 3,827 construction projects nationwide or equivalent to over 6.5 million square metres, according to a report by the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction on 27 December. 

Compared to the same period in 2021, the number of projects in 2022 decreased by 98 projects. Meanwhile, the investment value of these projects was US$2.6 billion. 

Among them, there were 4,321 residential projects with an investment capital of more than US$1.4 billion. There are 35 borey construction projects, equivalent to 9,912 houses with an investment capital of US$820 million, 6,609 flats with an investment capital of US$554 million, and 51 co-owned projects with a capital investment of US$222 million. 

There are 20 hotel projects with an investment capital of about US$71 million, 185 commercial building projects with an investment capital of about US$436 million, 117 factory building projects with an investment capital of US$533 million, and 7 multi-functional building construction projects with an investment capital of approximately US$149 million. 

From 2008 to November 2022, there were 34,373 residential projects, 1,073 hotel buildings, and 3,136 commercial buildings (10,629 factory buildings), and 330 multifunctional buildings.
