Cambodia-Japan’s Carbon Neutral Road to be Launched in March 2023

The clean energy plan and roadmap to carbon neutrality​ for Cambodia, which was co-developed by the Japanese government, is set to be launched in March this year, according to the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)’s announcement on 12 January. 

The project focuses on developing a carbon-neutral roadmap for Cambodia with a balance of energy security, economic growth, and environmental protection. 

The MoU to implement this project was signed by the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Mines and Energy HE Tin Norin and JICA Cambodia Director Ms Kamei Haruko in November 2022. 

Through close cooperation with the Ministry of Mines and Energy and stakeholders, JICA experts have expressed confidence that the joint efforts of both sides will help Cambodia to achieve a carbon-neutral society by 2050.
