Majestic Landmarks Unveiled: Over US$12m Prey Veng Provincial Hall and Record-breaking Boat Factory

The grandeur of Prey Veng province has been elevated with the unveiling of two remarkable landmarks—the magnificent Prey Veng provincial hall and the world’s longest boat depot named “Kampuchea Botta Khemaratry Police Station.”

These exceptional structures, symbolizing progress and innovation, were officially inaugurated on May 5, 2023, in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Samdech Krala Hom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

Boasting a value exceeding $12.37 million, the new Prey Veng Provincial Hall encompasses four buildings, each soaring three floors high. With a total of 223 rooms and six splendid meeting halls, this architectural marvel accommodates a range of administrative functions. One of the grand halls can host up to 500 participants, while two medium-sized halls comfortably accommodate around 100 individuals per hall.

Additionally, three smaller halls provide a cozy setting for approximately 25 participants, along with various administrative rooms that support the province’s governance.

Standing proudly as the longest boat depot in the world, the “Kampuchea Botta Khemaratry Police Station” spans an astonishing length of 98.80 meters, with a width of 8.60 meters. Situated on a spacious area measuring 14 meters wide and 178 meters long, this remarkable structure showcases meticulous craftsmanship.

Constructed with concrete and adorned with a beautiful tiled roof, the boat depot features elegant glass windows adorned with distinctive Khmer-style design elements. Commencing construction on March 24, 2022, this extraordinary feat of engineering was successfully completed on May 5, 2023.

Cambodia previously etched its name in the annals of history on November 12, 2018, by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest boat, measuring 87.30 meters in length, 1.94 meters in width, and accommodating up to 179 people. The recent inauguration of the world’s longest boat depot further reinforces Cambodia’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of architectural achievements.

The unveiling of the Prey Veng Provincial Hall and the awe-inspiring boat depot marks a significant milestone in the province’s development and showcases Cambodia’s dedication to innovation and progress.
