Gov’t Announces Temporary Opening of Koh Pich-Koh Norea Bridge for Traffic Starting 20 October

The Cambodian government has announced the temporary opening of the Koh Pich-Koh Norea Bridge from 20 October 2023, as shared on the official Facebook page of the Department of Public Works and Transport of Phnom Penh on the evening of 19 October 2023.

The move comes as a strategic response to mitigate traffic congestion caused by the ongoing construction of the Monivong Sky Overpass. Commencing at 6:00 AM on 20 October, the temporary operation of the Koh Norea Bridge is poised to offer some respite to the city’s commuters, who have eagerly awaited this infrastructure boon. While the bridge will temporarily open to traffic on 20 October, the grand inauguration is planned for 27 October, when it will assume its full operational status. This landmark infrastructure project, an investment of US$38 million, has been meticulously realized by the Overseas Cambodian Investment Company (OCIC) under the vigilant supervision of the Phnom Penh Capital Administration.
