Minebea Embarks on a New Era of Renewable Energy Investment in Cambodia

Minebea (Cambodia), known for its substantial investments and contributions to Cambodia’s economic landscape over the past 12 years, has unveiled an ambitious plan to expand its investments into renewable energy in the kingdom.

The announcement came during a high-profile courtesy call to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty King and President of the Cambodian People’s Party, at the CCP headquarters. Mr Yoshihisa Kainuma, CEO of Minebea, shared the company’s vision for creating new projects aimed at bolstering Cambodia’s sustainable development.

During the meeting, CEO Kainuma discussed the potential investments, emphasizing the importance of renewable energy, which aligns with the global commitment to mitigate climate change. He highlighted that in the past 12 years, Minebea has made significant strides in Cambodia’s manufacturing sector. Notably, the company began manufacturing electronic products in Cambodia for export to international markets.

Additionally, CEO Kainuma informed Samdech Techo Hun Sen that during the seventh-mandate Royal Government, led by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Minebea intends to play a pivotal role in attracting Japanese companies to invest in Cambodia. This initiative aims to accelerate the inflow of capital, especially for investments in smart lighting systems, which are poised for export to regional and international markets.

Minebea’s journey in Cambodia is a remarkable testament to the success of their endeavors. Beginning with an initial capital investment of just US$23 million, the company has grown exponentially over the past 12 years, with its capital now reaching an impressive US$600 million. This robust expansion, coupled with their commitment to fostering sustainable growth, is a clear sign of their unwavering confidence in Cambodia as an investment destination.

Samdech Hun Sen commended the remarkable progress of Minebea Company in Cambodia, recognizing it as a shining example of foreign investment and an indication of the firm trust international investors have in Cambodia’s burgeoning business environment.
