Kratie’s Mekong River Bridges Approach Halfway Mark in US$111m Project

The ambitious project to construct bridges across the Mekong River in Kratie province, valued at US$111 million,  has surged ahead, with completion surpassing 49% as of early May 2024 while the road connection component stands at an impressive 36.24%. This milestone was confirmed by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport’s official Facebook page on 7 May 2024.

The ministry has reported significant progress in the bridge construction and asserted that all aspects of the project are on track to be completed before September 2026.

The project encompasses the construction of a 1.761-kilometre-long bridge, spanning 13.55 metres in width, along with a 31.69-kilometre connecting road network. Executed by the renowned Shanghai Construction Group, this monumental initiative aims to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region.

Funded by the People’s Republic of China, this US$111 million project is expected to be completed within 42 months, showcasing a significant investment in bolstering regional infrastructure and connectivity. (Read more)
