Spain Eyes Expansion in Cambodia’s Wind Power Sector

Spain’s Acciona Energía is set to boost its investment in Cambodia, enhancing its current wind power projects in the country. This announcement was made during a visit by a Cambodian delegation to Acciona Energía’s headquarters, led by Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, the first Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, on 11 June 2024.

During the visit, Acciona Energía detailed its mission and ongoing ventures in renewable energy, focusing on sustainable energy solutions. The company, with over 30 years of expertise in renewable energy technology, operates a large power plant that employs more than 58,000 individuals from 40 countries.

Acciona Energía confirmed its intentions to expand its wind power investments in Cambodia, aiming to harness the country’s potential for sustainable energy generation. This visit underscored Spain’s commitment to strengthening its presence in Cambodia’s renewable energy sector.

Additionally, French company Blue Circle has also shown interest in Cambodia’s wind power opportunities. Both companies have conducted geographical studies and identified several promising locations, including Phnom Bokor, Kampot, and Mondulkiri provinces, for potential wind power projects. This move signals a significant step towards diversifying and enhancing Cambodia’s renewable energy landscape. (Read more)
