Kampong Thom to Establish Cashew Industrial Park: PM Enthusiastic about Local Economic Development

In a significant move aimed at boosting local employment and transforming the regional economy, Prime Minister Samdech Bovathibodi Hun Manet has approved the establishment of a cashew industrial park in Kampong Thom province. This decision came swiftly, with the request being approved just one day after it was submitted.

Speaking at the closing ceremony for the 2024 work review and the 2025 planning session of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, the Prime Minister highlighted the collaborative effort between state authorities and the private sector. He noted that while the government would provide the land for the industrial park, the private sector would be responsible for the investment, creating a synergistic relationship to foster local development.

“This cashew industrial park will not only generate jobs for the local population but will also serve as an agro-industrial zone that could revolutionize the economic landscape of Kampong Thom,” said Samdech. He emphasized the importance of careful area management to ensure it benefits the people and alleviates economic pressure in the region.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister encouraged provincial authorities to actively engage with foreign investors to explore additional investment opportunities. “We must harness our resources and position our country as an attractive destination for investment,” he added.

The establishment of the industrial park is expected to catalyze economic growth and employment in Kampong Thom, marking an exciting new chapter for the province.
