The Mekong River Bridge project in Kratie province is 77% complete

Exciting developments are unfolding as the Mekong River Bridge project in Kratie Province reaches a significant milestone, achieving 77.02% completion. Spanning nearly 2 kilometres, this ambitious infrastructure project is set to enhance connectivity and bolster economic growth in the region.

As reported on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the bridge and connecting infrastructure are a key part of a larger national road network linking Kratie and Kampong Thom provinces. The project includes two medium bridges, a short bridge, and a vital connecting road from National Road 7 (Kla Stuep Roundabout) to National Road 60B, currently at 53.14% completion.

Anticipation is building as plans indicate a temporary opening to traffic as early as September 2025, promising to ease transportation for residents and travellers alike significantly. This strategic project facilitates the flow between major national roads, including National Roads 6, 7, 71, and 73.

With an impressive length of 1.761 km and a width of 13.55 m, the bridge will be complemented by a 31.69 km connecting road constructed by the Shanghai Construction Group. The total project budget is pegged at a remarkable US$111 million, funded by the People’s Republic of China. (Read more)
