Significant Progress Made on the 30-Kilometer Stung Slap Restoration Project in Kampong Thom Province

The Stung Slap restoration project, an integral part of the Kampong Kor watershed development initiative, is now 75% complete, as announced during a recent project inspection led by His Excellency Tho Jetha, the Minister of Water Resources.

The restoration effort is crucial for enhancing water management in the region, with the capacity to release and divert up to 300 cubic meters of water per second. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for mitigating flood risks in Stung Sen city and its surrounding areas during the rainy season.

H.E. Tho Jetha emphasized the project’s significance, noting that the Stung Slap river serves the daily needs of residents across five cities and districts, including Stung Sen city, Kampong Svay district, Santuk district, Prasat Ballang district, and Sandan district.

The Stung Slap restoration project is also a part of the revitalization of the Kampong Kor Dam project, situated approximately 15 kilometers from the provincial capital of Kampong Thom, along the lower Sen River. Covering a total length of 30 kilometers, the project connects the Sen River to the upper section of Stung Sen town in Srayov commune. It features a 6-meter-wide dam, a 60-meter-wide upper mouth, and a 20-meter-wide lower section, along with 117 specialized structures, including river cutting, water retention, and water discharge facilities.
