Japan Proposes Establishment of Nursing and Healthcare Training Center in Cambodia

Japan has expressed a strong interest in establishing a nursing and healthcare training center in Cambodia as part of expanded cooperation in the health sector, aiming to support business growth and contribute to Cambodia’s socio-economic development.

The intention was raised during a meeting on November 11, 2025, between H.E. Koy Vanny, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health, and H.E. Takahashi Fumiaki, President of the Japan–Cambodia Association, accompanied by a delegation of Japanese business leaders.

During the discussion, H.E. Takahashi emphasized that the delegation comprises representatives from small and medium-sized enterprises interested in investing in Cambodia’s healthcare industry. Their interests include establishing a healthcare and nursing training center, supporting the production of medical equipment, and expanding cooperation in cosmetics and medical training services. He requested guidance and support from the Ministry of Health to advance these initiatives.

In response, H.E. Koy Vanny expressed appreciation for Japan’s continued assistance to Cambodia’s health sector, particularly through technical cooperation and grant aid provided by the Japanese government. He reaffirmed the Ministry of Health’s commitment to improving the well-being of the Cambodian people and welcomed Japan’s intention to strengthen collaboration.

The Japan–Cambodia Association also pledged to further expand bilateral health cooperation, support the Ministry of Health’s priority programs, and encourage more Japanese enterprises and associations to build partnerships with relevant Cambodian institutions.
