Cambodia Records $44 Million in Annual Revenue from Angkor Archaeological Park Tourism

Cambodia’s tourism sector has marked a productive year in 2025, generating approximately $44 million in revenue from ticket sales at the world-famous Angkor Archaeological Park. According to the annual report released by Angkor Enterprise on January 1, 2026, the historic site welcomed more than 950,000 international tourists over the past twelve months. While these figures represent a substantial contribution to the national economy, the report indicates a slight decrease of 6.51% in ticket revenue compared to the same period in 2024. Despite this marginal decline, the sustained influx of nearly one million foreign visitors underscores the enduring global appeal of the Angkorian temples as a premier cultural destination.

The revenue stream from Cambodia’s heritage sites extends beyond the main Angkor park to include other significant archaeological landmarks across the country. The Koh Ker temple resort, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, attracted more than 20,000 international visitors in 2025, generating over $300,000 in entrance fees. Additionally, the Beng Mealea temple, known for its raw and overgrown aesthetic, saw 16,000 foreign tourists and contributed approximately $160,000 to the total earnings. These figures highlight the success of the government’s efforts to diversify tourism offerings and encourage travelers to explore beyond the central temple complex of Siem Reap.

In line with its commitment to social responsibility and public welfare, Angkor Enterprise has allocated a portion of its earnings to support local healthcare. For every ticket sold to a foreign tourist, two dollars are donated to the Kantha Bopha Foundation, a charitable organization that provides free medical care to Cambodian children. In 2025 alone, this initiative resulted in a contribution of nearly $2 million to the foundation. This funding is critical for maintaining the high standards of pediatric care in the Kingdom and demonstrates how the tourism industry serves as a direct vehicle for social development.
