Contract Granted to Korean Firm for Us$63 Million Sewerage Project

The Cambodian government has granted a Korean firm the right to design and construct the sewerage system development project in Ta Khmau city, Kandal Province.

On 26 December, 2018, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) signed a contract on advisory services for the sewerage development project with construction and engineering firm Dohwa Engineering Co., Ltd, according to the press release.

The contract is worth US$4.7 million, of which Dohwa Engineering will be responsible for the study of the detailed design and supervision of the construction work on the project for a period of 48 months.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, H.E Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of MPWT said that “constructing a wastewater treatment station with enough capacity to clean water from people’s homes, construction of a pipeline network, and the connection of a pipeline from citizen’s homes to the station will improve the health and hygiene of the people”.

The sewerage system development project is using the US$63 million loan package that Cambodia received from the Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank).

The project will construct a water treatment station with the capacity to clean up to 7,600 cubic metresof water per day and build 10 pumping stations capable of pumping 29,952 cubic metres of waste water per day. In addition, the project will also build a 16.3-km pipeline network and restore existing pumping stations.
