Japan Grants Aid for Construction of Five Bridges in Kratie

The government of Japan, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is providing funds to Cambodia to help renovate five bridges along Road No. 73 from downtown Kratie to Chhlong.

According to the director of the Public Works and Transport Department in Kratie, Sreng Sros, in an interview with local media CNC, the five projects includes Sandan bridge, Prek Russey bridge, Anlong Trak bridge, Prek Chhlong bridge, and Peam bridge, with a total length of 460 metres.

“The project is being constructed by HAZAMA Construction Company and will take 28 months to complete by September 15, 2020. At the moment, the responsible company is working very hard to complete the projects in a timely manner,” said Mr Sros.

After completion, the people of Kratie will have five Japanese-standard bridges which will ease transportation and improve the logistic system of the province.

Kratie province is also one of the fastest-developing provinces in Cambodia, especially in the infrastructure sector. The government has recently constructed and launched a university in the province. In addition, the government has also revealed the future plan to build a new bridge crossing the Mekong River from Kratie to Kampong Thom province. (Read more)
