APD Global is transforming Perth’s power infrastructure with the ongoing AUD 25 million PTA Sutherland St. Load Upgrade project, scheduled for completion in 2027.

By relying on an integrated suite of Bentley Systems software, the engineering firm is modernizing the city’s electrical grid to support a growing public transport system while significantly boosting project efficiency.

The digital engineering approach utilizes MicroStation for precise drafting and compliance, while OpenUtilities Substation and Promis.e streamline complex electrical and utility network designs.

To capture existing site conditions, the team deployed iTwin Capture and Bentley Descartes for advanced point cloud modeling and accurate 3D integration, helping align civil, structural, and electrical elements.

Furthermore, ProjectWise serves as a centralized single source of truth for real-time, cross-discipline collaboration, and Bentley LumenRT delivers immersive real-time visualizations for stakeholder engagement.

These digital capabilities deliver major benefits to the Perth power upgrade, including a 15% increase in project delivery speed, up to a 2% reduction in material waste through clash detection, and fewer site visits.

The software-driven workflow ultimately minimizes design errors, reduces costly rework, and cuts carbon footprints to build a resilient and sustainable energy network for the region.
