Bassac River Crossing Project (Chak Angre Krom – Prek Pra) Achieves 14% Completion

As of mid-October 2024, the Bassac River Crossing Project (Chak Angre Krom – Prek Pra) has reached 14.50% completion. This update was provided by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on October 17, 2024.

Following eight months of construction that began on February 19, 2024, the bridge project is progressing steadily.

Once completed, the bridge is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on the Monivong Bridge, which spans the Bassac River and connects with National Road No. 1 in Chbar Ampov district. The new bridge will strengthen socio-economic ties between Phnom Penh and the south of Techo Krong International Airport in Takhmao while also improving transportation and logistics efficiency in the Phnom Penh area.

This bridge will have a total length of 1,650 meters, comprising an 845.70-meter bridge with a road width of 27 meters and a connecting road of 804.30 meters with a road width of 27 meters. The project is being constructed by Shanghai Construction Company, with consulting provided by Guangzhou Wan An. It is funded by a concessional loan of USD60.2 million from the Chinese government, alongside contributions from the Royal Government of Cambodia to address impacts such as demining, unexploded ordnance, and other related taxes.
