Bentley Systems Highlights AI-Powered Digital Twins to Improve Infrastructure Data Management

At the Cesium Developer Conference, Bentley Systems showcased how its Cesium platform, iTwin technology, and new AI tools can help solve a major infrastructure challenge: keeping project data connected throughout an asset’s entire lifecycle.

Industry experts noted that valuable information created during design is often lost when projects move from planning to construction and maintenance. Bentley aims to address this by using digital twins—virtual representations of real-world assets—to keep data accessible and connected for decades.

Bentley’s Cesium platform enables the collection, visualization, and sharing of large-scale 3D geospatial data, while iTwin technology integrates engineering and operational data into a single digital model. These tools help organizations manage roads, bridges, buildings, and other infrastructure more efficiently.

The company also highlighted the growing role of AI. New AI agents and Model Context Protocol (MCP) technology allow users to interact with engineering software using plain English, simplifying workflows and reducing data loss between project phases.

Additional innovations include iTwin Engage for immersive project visualization and iTwin Capture combined with AI for monitoring asset changes using highly detailed 3D models. Bentley said these technologies can improve collaboration, speed up decision-making, and support better long-term infrastructure management.
