US$20 million Boeung Choeung Ek Wastewater Treatment Plant Unveiled

The Boeung Choeung Ek Wastewater Treatment Plant, a state-of-the-art facility valued at over US$20 million, was officially inaugurated on 27 December 2023. The auspicious ceremony, presided over by Samdech Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and HE Ueno Atsushi, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, marks a pivotal moment in the nation’s commitment to eco-friendly infrastructure.

Situated in Prek Ta Kong 1 village, Chak Angre commune, this cutting-edge wastewater treatment plant, constructed under a generous grant from the Government of Japan, spans a sprawling 3 hectares. The facility is equipped with advanced technology and boasts a robust capacity to treat 5,000 cubic metres of wastewater per day. Additionally, it features 22 wastewater pumping stations with the capability to pump an impressive 468 cubic metres per hour.

The groundbreaking for this transformative project took place on 22 February 2022, under the distinguished patronage of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Former Prime Minister of Cambodia, and Mr. Mikami Masahiro, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia. This visionary initiative underscores Cambodia’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development and the preservation of its environmental heritage. (Read more)
