Cambodia and World Bank Plan $260 Million Financing Agreement for 2026

Partnership Aims to Accelerate Cambodia’s Growth and Development, Focusing on Key Sectors

The Royal Government of Cambodia and the World Bank (WB) are planning to sign a $260 million financing agreement for 2026. This significant funding is intended to accelerate Cambodia’s growth and development.

This announcement follows a meeting and press release detailing the discussion between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, His Excellency Aun Pornmoniroth, and Ms. Mariam J. Sherman, World Bank Country Manager for Cambodia, Vietnam, and Lao PDR, which took place on December 2, 2025.

The same press release indicates the World Bank’s commitment to continuing cooperation and support for Cambodia. This support contributes to the nation’s progress toward achieving its Cambodia 2050 vision through a new Partnership Cooperation Framework between the Cambodian government and the World Bank for 2025–2029.

His Excellency, the Deputy Prime Minister, highly valued the partnership between the Royal Government and the World Bank. He specifically praised the continued support for Cambodia’s development, which is focused on critical sectors. These key sectors include education, health, energy, and connectivity infrastructure. The partnership also supports structural reforms through the Policy Development Program to strengthen resilience, promote economic diversification, enhance production chains, improve competitiveness, and boost employment.

Furthermore, for 2026, Cambodia and the World Bank also plan to increase the size of this financing through mobilization from other sources in the following years. This ongoing effort aims to promote Cambodia’s sustainable growth and development.

Recently, during a meeting between Prime Minister Hun Manet and the World Bank, they also pledged to strengthen and expand cooperation in several potential sectors. (Read more)
