Cambodia officially inaugurated the Ream Naval Base and the Cambodia-China Joint Logistics and Training Center, which significantly boosted its maritime capabilities. The ceremony was presided over by Prime Minister Hun Sen, marking a notable advancement in the nation’s naval infrastructure.

Developed with assistance from China, the Ream Naval Base features a newly constructed drydock, slipway, pier, and various buildings, enhancing both existing facilities and operational capacity. Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized that this modernization is vital for strengthening the Cambodian military’s ability to manage maritime situations effectively. He stated, “These advancements will empower us to prevent, protect, and respond to incidents in a timely manner. In a move to promote regional stability, the Prime Minister invited friendly nations to utilize the Ream Navy Base for training exercises, asserting that Cambodia has no intentions of allowing any foreign country to establish an exclusive military base on its territory.
