Forging Stronger Ties: Cambodia Extends Invitation to Australia for AusTrade Office

A momentous meeting between the Cambodian private sector, led by Okhna Kith Meng President, of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce, and Australian Special Envoy for Southeast Asia, Mr Nicolas Moore, marked a pivotal step towards fortifying bilateral relations between Cambodia and Australia through official meeting on 10 July 2023.

At the heart of the discussion was the proposal for Australia to establish an Australian Chamber of Commerce (AusTrade) office in Cambodia, fostering stronger ties and unlocking new avenues for economic cooperation.

Okhna Kith Meng reaffirmed the boundless potential of trade and investment between the two nations, capitalising on the immense opportunities presented by the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement and the Regional Economic Partnership Agreement. The establishment of the AusTrade office in Cambodia is poised to catalyse and expedite economic exchanges, fostering mutual growth and prosperity.

“The Cambodian Chamber of Commerce eagerly supports trade and investment in diverse sectors, with a particular focus on agriculture, health, resources, and education. We welcome Australian businesses to explore the vibrant opportunities that Cambodia offers,” emphasised Okhna Kith Meng during the meeting.

With a burgeoning presence of Australian companies already flourishing in Cambodia, the stage is set for even deeper and mutually beneficial synergies.
