China Fosters Investment Relations with Cambodia Through New Business Association

In a significant move to enhance economic ties, a consortium of Chinese investors has officially launched the Hubei Province Business Association in Cambodia. This initiative aims to attract more Chinese investments and foster collaboration between the two nations.

During the launch event, HE Chea Wutthy, Secretary-General of the Cambodia Investment Committee under the Council for the Development of Cambodia, emphasised the importance of this new association. He called on Chinese investors who have yet to explore opportunities in Cambodia to visit and discover the country’s vast potential. “Cambodia is brimming with opportunities for strategic partnerships that can benefit both countries,” he stated.

Highlighting Cambodia’s emerging status as a prominent investment destination in Southeast Asia, HE Chea Wutthy noted that the Financial Times’ FDI Intelligence recognised the country as a leading foreign direct investment hotspot in 2024, ranking it among the top 50 nations globally.

He underscored the factors that make Cambodia an attractive investment landscape, including political stability, social order, and macroeconomic resilience, coupled with controlled inflation and a youthful, skilled workforce. Situated at the heart of the Greater Mekong Subregion, Cambodia offers strategic access to regional and international markets.

Furthermore, the Royal Government’s proactive response in times of crisis, effective dialogue with the private sector, and continued improvement of infrastructure all contribute to an increasingly favourable business environment. This includes a suite of bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements designed to facilitate commerce.

The launch of the Hubei Province Business Association adds to a growing roster of collaborations between Cambodian and Chinese entrepreneurs. Existing organisations, such as the China Business Association in Cambodia and the Cambodian Chinese Entrepreneurs Association, have already played pivotal roles in promoting trade and investment in the region.

As Cambodia continues to develop its economic landscape, the establishment of this new business association is expected to further solidify the friendship and mutual growth between Cambodia and China, opening new avenues for investment and partnership.
