The Ministry of Mines and Energy has signed two additional gold resource investment agreements with the Australian company Renaissance, covering sites in Mondulkiri and Tboung Khmum provinces. These two new projects are expected to generate a combined total revenue of approximately $1.5 billion USD for the state.
The agreements were announced by the Ministry of Mines and Energy on November 17, 2025, in the presence of Minister H.E. Keo Rattanak.
According to the Ministry’s notification, the two new investment agreements with Renaissance include: first, an agreement for an additional adjustment to the first agreement concerning the O’Kvau area in Keo Seima District, Mondulkiri Province. This adjustment incorporates an underground mining project which could yield approximately 10 tonnes of gold, adding to the existing gold reserve of about 34 tonnes. This project alone is projected to provide the state with a total revenue of $1 billion USD, encompassing royalties and various taxes.
The second agreement is for a mineral resource investment (for gold) in the Cheam Ta Mau area of Memot District, Tboung Khmum Province. This site features an economically viable open-pit mine expected to extract approximately 26 tonnes of gold over its seven-year lifespan. This second project is anticipated to provide the state with a total revenue of approximately $583 million USD, covering royalties and various taxes, while also creating about 500 jobs. (read more)
It is recalled that the Royal Government of Cambodia initially permitted the Ministry of Mines and Energy to sign a mineral resource investment agreement in the O’Kvau area of Keo Seima District, Mondulkiri Province, with Renaissance Minerals (Cambodia) Limited back in 2019. Since commencing gold production operations in 2021 up to the present, that initial project has delivered significant benefits to Cambodia. It has produced a total of approximately 16 tonnes of pure gold, paid royalties totaling $27.3 million USD to the state, and generated tax revenue amounting to $99.1 million USD. Furthermore, it has provided 697 jobs, with 645 of the employees being Cambodian nationals. (read more)
