Cambodia Urges ADB to Focus on Cross-Border Facilities to Boost Logistics

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has urged the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to focus its development on cross-border facilities to help improve the logistics sector between Cambodia and neighbouring countries.

The proposal was made during a working meeting between the MPWT and the ADB on 06 April.

MPWT Minister HE Sun Chanthol said that the development of the cross-border area will help expand trade volume, increase access to regional markets, especially the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) as well as ASEAN, and open direct access to the border and local crossings as well.

In response, Alexander D. Nash, Urban Development Specialist of the ADB, also expressed interest in the proposals and promised to review and facilitate them accordingly.

The meeting also discussed the priority infrastructure development projects, including road improvement, road safety, public transport, the use of information technology for public sector management and effective transportation, improvement in wastewater treatment systems, water management for cities, national master plans, logistics, and other key sector development strategies.
