Cambodia Urges All High-Emission Countries to Provide US$100 Billion to Address Climate Change

Cambodia has called on high-emission countries to provide US$100 billion as promised to accelerate the process of transferring green technology to developing countries to address climate change.

HE Say Sam Al, Minister of Environment, gave the statement at the 27th Summit of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change on 15 November.

In addition, the minister called on countries with high emissions to show leadership and responsibility by increasing their will to reduce emissions and enhancing climate change adaptation measures.

HE Say Sam Al said that climate change is hampering the development process, destroying physical infrastructure, property, and human and animal life.

“Cambodia has contributed about 2.3% of gross domestic product (GDP) for climate change activities, through increasing the use of renewable energy and protecting forests,” said HE Say Sam Al.

At the same time, Cambodia has developed legal documents, policies, plans, and a carbon-neutral long-term development strategy to contribute to sustainable development.
