Cambodia Welcomes Over 4 million International Tourists in First Eight Months of 2025

In a remarkable boost for the tourism sector, Cambodia welcomed over 4 million international tourists in the first eight months of 2025, accompanied by a staggering 17.28 million domestic travelers. This marks an impressive increase of nearly 53% compared to the same period last year. Prime Minister Hun Sen shared these encouraging statistics on World Tourism Day, celebrated annually on September 27.

During his address, Prime Minister Hun Manet highlighted the crucial role of tourism as a driving force behind Cambodia’s economic growth. He expressed optimism that the sector will continue to create job opportunities and enhance both direct and indirect income for the population, while also promoting exports within the private sector.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the ongoing growth in tourism not only strengthens the macroeconomic landscape but also invigorates various sectors, particularly the private sector. He noted that improvements in the business and investment environment have been key to fostering job creation and stimulating economic activities, leading to sustained growth.

With the assurance of peace and stability, Cambodia remains an attractive destination for tourists, offering lucrative investment and trade opportunities across Asia. Over the last 30 years, the tourism sector has established itself as a major catalyst for economic development.

In 2024, Cambodia recorded 6.7 million international visitors, a 22.9% increase year-on-year, alongside 22.52 million domestic tourists, a rise of 20.1% from 2023. Revenue generated from international tourism reached approximately $3.637 billion, contributing around 9.4% to the nation’s gross domestic product and creating nearly 510,000 jobs.
