China Keen to Build Roads Throughout Sihanoukville Province

Chinese companies are interested in building roads throughout Sihanoukville Province, according to Sihanoukville provincial governor H.E Yun Min.

In a phone interview with Construction&Property Magazine on 27 September, 2018, H.E Yun Min said that Chinese companies are interested in constructing and restoring roads throughout Sihanoukville and there were already six companies proposing to conduct feasibility studies.

As estimated by the provincial department of Public Works and Transport, road construction and rehabilitation in the city alone will cost around US$200 million, he said.

Chinese companies will conduct a feasibility study for three months, and then the proposal will be submitted to the Royal Government of Cambodia, he added.

Meanwhile, according to the data from Sihanoukville Administration, there are 28 roads in the city that have been damaged and are in need of rehabilitation.

In addition, the key roads in the city which have been discussed with the six Chinese firms were eight roads connecting to 28 other roads with total length of 140km. Those roads also connected to 245 other roads across the city.
