Coca-Cola Pledges to Use Local Raw Materials for Its Production in Cambodia

In a significant move aimed at bolstering local economies, The Coca-Cola Company has announced its commitment to sourcing raw materials from local suppliers to meet its production needs in Cambodia. This announcement came after a meeting on June 24, 2025, between His Excellency Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and a delegation from Coca-Cola led by CEO Paulo Gaspar Rodrigues.

During the meeting, Rodrigues outlined the company’s investment strategy in Cambodia, highlighting the importance of collaboration between Coca-Cola and governmental bodies. He emphasized his determination to identify local suppliers capable of providing quality raw materials that align with the company’s production standards. Coca-Cola is also dedicated to expanding its investment footprint in the country, aiming to positively impact Cambodia’s economic growth.

In response, Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol expressed his support for Coca-Cola and underscored the vital role of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in driving national economic development. He noted that local sourcing of raw materials could provide investors with additional incentives, part of the government’s broader strategy to attract quality investments.

Coca-Cola has been operating in Cambodia since 1993 through the Cambodia Beverage Company Ltd (CBC), a member of the Bottling Investments Group (BIG). The company was granted exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute Coca-Cola products in the country. After more than two decades of successful operation, Coca-Cola inaugurated a new manufacturing plant in Phnom Penh in December 2016, designed to cater to the surging demand within Cambodia and across the ASEAN region. Located in the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (PPSEZ), this facility spans 12.5 hectares and represents a significant investment in the local economy. (Read more)
