Construction of Mekong River Bridge in Kratie Officially Begins

The construction of the Chinese-funded US$111-million Mekong River bridge in Kratie province officially began on 2 December under the auspices of Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia HE Wang Wentian. 

The project includes the construction of a new Mekong River bridge and a new road connecting NR7 to NR60B. 

The bridge across the Mekong River will be 1,761m long and 13.5m wide, with the east bank located at Bos Leav Leu village, Bos Leav commune, Chit Borei district, and the west bank located at Prek Prolong village, Sop commune, Prek Prosop district, Kratie province. 

Meanwhile, the connecting road is divided into two sections; 15.49km of the main road and 16.20km of sub-roads connecting to Kratie downtown. 

The project will cost US$111.98 million, financed by the People’s Republic of China, and will take about 42 months to complete.
