Construction of Koh Tonsay, Landfill and Coastal Road in Kep Province 62% Complete

Construction of Koh Tonsay tourism port, landfill, and coastal road in Kep Province has been 62% complete, according to the meeting on 4 August 2022.

Deputy Technical Advisor of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Mr. Horm Nimol, said that sub-project of the landfill, coastal road, and Koh Tonsay tourism port have been 98.8%, 10.4%, and 8.5% complete respectively.

He added that the coastal road construction project is facing some technical problems and the Koh Tonsay port project is being changed according to the request from the Koh Tonsay Community and the transportation of machinery and construction materials from the land to the island is difficult and expensive.

Regarding this issue, Deputy Governor of Kep Province, Mr. VAO Sokha, stressed that provincial authorities will continue to strive to solve all those issues not to affect or hinder the development of these three projects.

The three projects above in Kep are part of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Phase II Tourism Growth for the Greater Mekong Subregion Project, in which the Koh Tonsay Port sub-project will be built under a US$1.6-million budget. (Read more)
