Reconstruction of Mondulkiri’s Collapsed Road76 Nears Halfway Mark, 45% Progress

The reconstruction project of a 425-metre-long, 12-metre-wide road, which will reconnect the fractured stretch of Road 76 in Mondulkiri, has achieved an impressive milestone. As of 6 October 2023, the Mondulkiri Provincial Administration reports that this crucial endeavour has reached the 45% completion mark.

This project, overseen by the Department of Public Works and Transport, is focused on resurrecting the segment of Road 76 that succumbed to a collapse in August. Situated at the O’Ngei point (PK 94 + 080 to PK 94 + 150) in Andong Kraloeng village, Sen Monorom commune, Oreang district, Mondulkiri province, this restoration project is of paramount importance for ensuring the region’s connectivity and accessibility. To expedite this crucial effort, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport took the proactive step of requesting an advance of 1 billion riels from the Ministry of Economy and Finance. This financial support underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to swiftly rehabilitate this vital transportation artery, mitigating disruptions and inconveniences for the local populace.

In a separate development aimed at further enhancing regional connectivity, the state is gearing up to petition for an allocation of 6 billion million Riels from the Ministry of Economy and Finance in 2024. (Read more)
