Construction on expansion of Russian Blvd begins 10 February

After Phnom Penh Municipality started construction on expanding the northern section of Russian Federation Boulevard on 10 February, authorities have requested drivers to commute with caution.

According to an announcement issued on 10 February, the main part of the project is expanding the northern side of Russian Federation Blvd, from the Total gas station to the corner of City Center Blvd. The road expansion also includes installing a drainage system to help ease flooding on Preah Monivong Blvd and Russian Federation Blvd during the rainy reason.

An additional aspect is an adjustment of the two-deer roundabout with some of the gardens to become part of the roundabout. The municipality will also renovate the roads around the roundabout, to ease congestion at the intersection between City Center Blvd (Road R6) and Czech Republic Blvd.

The municipality also underlined in the announcement that the traffic situation in the Russian Federation Blvd from two-deer-status point to BKC intersection has been highly congested, due to the rapid increase of vehicles.

During the temporary roadworks, the municipality called on people passing through the area to strongly cooperate and strictly follow the road instruction.
