Construction of Dauntri Dam in Battambang Province 60% Complete

Construction of the South Korean-funded Dauntri Dam in Battambang province has been approximately 60% completed and is scheduled to open for operation in 2024.

The update was unveiled by the Director of the Department of Water Resources and Meteorology of Battambang Province Mr Long Phalkun on 25 August.

Mr​ Long Phalkun said that this irrigation system has great potential compared to all other irrigation systems across the country. It is a modern system and was built by drilling a mountain to make a dam.

“Nowadays, Battambang has a shortage of water, but when the construction is completed, we will have a huge reservoir to use,” he added.

When completed, the reservoir will be able to store 163 million cubic meters of water with a rainfall area of more than 3,000 square kilometers and can irrigate 40,000 hectares in the rainy season and 20,000 hectares in the dry season.

The Dauntri Dam Development Project is located in Rukkiri district, Battambang province, and construction started in June 2018. (Read more)
