Digital Twins Drive $14.8M in Savings for Jakarta’s LRT Expansion

PT Waskita Karya has utilized Bentley Systems’ digital construction suite to complete the 6.4-kilometer LRT Jakarta Phase 1B project, saving USD 14.82 million in potential rework and delay penalties.

The project’s success was anchored by SYNCHRO 4D, which allowed engineers to simulate the entire construction sequence before breaking ground.

This proactive approach identified over 1,200 technical clashes between new structures and existing utilities, saving millions by preventing physical errors. Additionally, high-resolution drone data processed via iTwin Capture provided an exact digital replica of the city, ensuring precise planning in confined spaces.

Efficiency gains extended across the entire project lifecycle. By using ProjectWise as a centralized data hub, the team boosted data exchange speed by 80% and slashed modeling time by 40%.

Meanwhile, iTwin Experience provided stakeholders with real-time, immersive progress updates, reducing the need for manual site visits by 20% and lowering the project’s overall carbon footprint.

Through these Bentley-powered workflows, Waskita Karya avoided costly budget overruns and minimized disruption to the surrounding community. This digital-first approach not only optimized the construction of the light rail extension but also serves as a sustainable blueprint for future smart city infrastructure worldwide.
