Canadian Company Plans to Establish Manufacturing Plant in Cambodia

YKK Canada Inc., a globally recognized manufacturer of fasteners, has revealed plans to invest in establishing a parts manufacturing factory in Cambodia in the near future. The announcement follows a meeting between His Excellency Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), and Mr. Hugues Charbonneau, President of YKK Canada Inc., during an official visit to the company on October 31, 2025.

According to H.E. Sun Chanthol, the visit aimed to learn from YKK Canada’s advanced production systems and labor management practices while promoting Cambodia as a competitive destination for investment. He emphasized that the country offers strong potential for expanding production bases and strengthening the supply chain for the textile and garment industry — one of Cambodia’s key economic sectors.

H.E. Sun Chanthol also encouraged YKK Canada to consider investing in Cambodia, noting that such a move would not only serve domestic demand but also enhance the nation’s competitiveness in global garment exports.

In response, Mr. Charbonneau praised Cambodia’s rapid economic growth and expressed keen interest in exploring investment opportunities. He stated that YKK Canada is actively evaluating the feasibility of establishing a facility in Cambodia to produce fasteners and other industrial components.

With its strong international reputation and advanced manufacturing capabilities, YKK Canada’s potential investment would mark another significant step in Cambodia’s industrial development and its growing appeal to global manufacturers.
