French Parliamentarian Pledges to Expand Investment in Cambodia Across Seven Key Sectors

High-level meeting between the Council for the Development of Cambodia and the French-Cambodian Friendship Group focuses on innovation and mutual economic growth

The French National Assembly’s Friendship Group has committed to encouraging high-potential French businesses to launch and expand their operations in Cambodia, specifically targeting seven strategic sectors. This commitment was highlighted during a meeting on February 24, 2026, between His Excellency Suon Sophal, Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodian Investment Board at the Council for the Development of Cambodia, and Mr. Thomas Lam, a member of the French Parliament and Chairman of the French-Cambodian Friendship Group.

During the discussion, Mr. Lam emphasized his intention to facilitate French investment in both established industries and emerging innovative fields. The specific areas of focus identified include agro-industry, accounting and finance, tourism, automotive manufacturing, electronics, healthcare, and logistics. These collaborative efforts are designed to catalyze sustainable economic growth for both nations.

In response to these pledges, His Excellency Suon Sophal welcomed the initiative and expressed the Cambodian government’s strong commitment to providing necessary support and a favorable environment for French investors. The partnership aims to build upon existing bilateral ties while exploring new avenues for technological and industrial cooperation to benefit the people of both countries.
