China Pledges 10 EV Chargers to Cambodia

The China Chamber of Commerce has promised to provide 10 electric vehicles (EV) chargers to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to support the use of EVs in Cambodia.

The announcement of the EV chargers was made in a workshop on the development of a roadmap for EV charging stations in Cambodia held on 08 July.

HE Chhuon Vorn, Director-General of the General Department of Land Transport of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, said that currently, the ministry has a total of 5 EV charging stations, of which 4 are via UNDP assistance and one is invested by Chevron Petroleum which plans to install 300 units over the next three years.

In addition, a private partner -the China Chamber of Commerce- has promised to support the use of electric vehicles in Cambodia, as a first step to provide 10 EV chargers to the ministry, he said.

The ministry has met with representatives of five major fuel companies, including Sokimex, Total, Kampuchea Tela, Caltex, and PTT, to discuss the installation of EV chargers at their petrol stations.
