CCA Predicts Positive Growth for Construction Industry in H2 2018

The Cambodia Constructors Association (CCA) has predicted that the construction industry will continue to growin the second half of 2018 and the demand for raw construction materials will also increase. Reflecting on the National Bank of Cambodia’s (NBC) semi-annual report regarding the import of construction materials during the first six months of 2018, Mr Chiv Sivpeng, general manager at the CCA had a positive outlook on the supply of construction materials.

Japan Funds Us$1 Million for Bayon Temple Restoration Project

On 25 September, 2018, Japan funded US$1 million through UNESCO to Cambodia for a restoration project of Bayon Temple inSiem Reap Province. According to a UNESCO Facebook post, the Royal Government of Cambodia, through the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UNESCO on the restoration project of Bayon Temple under the support from Japanese Funds-in-Trust for the Preservation of the World Cultural Heritage.

Government to Shutdown Non-compliant Construction Sites in Sihanoukville Province

The government is to revoke construction licenses and completely close down construction sites in Sihanoukville Province that failed to comply with the guidelines, especially those along the coastal area. On 26 September, 2018, H.E Pen Sophal, secretary of state for the Ministry of Land Management Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC), told the Cambodian Peace Channel (CPC) that the ministry will revoke construction licenses from non-compliant construction sites.
