Kampong Cham Initiates State-of-the-Art Landfill Construction Project

The Kampong Cham Provincial Administration has officially commenced the construction of a cutting-edge landfill facility in the Kampong Siem district, marking a significant step towards modern waste management practices. The groundbreaking ceremony was announced through the official Facebook page of the provincial administration on 5 February 2024.

Situated in Koh Roka village, Koh Roka commune, Kampong Siem district, Kampong Cham province, the expansive landfill project spans nearly 10 hectares. BM Construction & Telecommunications Co., Ltd. is tasked with overseeing the 17-month construction period, commencing on 5 January 2024, and scheduled for completion on 28 May 2025.

The modern landfill will adhere to rigorous standards, featuring the construction of four wastewater treatment plants, a 2,000-metre-long access road, and a concrete road within the facility. The comprehensive infrastructure includes entrances and fences, two-story office and residential buildings, car weighing facilities, waste sorting buildings, workshops, temporary hazardous waste storage, power supply structures, car wash facilities, composting buildings, and solar power systems.

Initiated by the provincial administration in 2021, the landfill project strategically utilizes state-owned land, strategically located away from residential areas, ensuring minimal impact on local communities. (Read more)
