Enhancing Connectivity: Completion of 57.12 km Rural Road Projects in Svay Rieng Province

Marking a significant milestone in rural infrastructure development, the Ministry of Rural Development proudly announced the successful completion of four rural road improvement projects (RRIP 3) in Svay Rieng province. The inspection and handover ceremony, conducted by HE Song Sophal, Undersecretary of State and Project Manager at the Ministry of Rural Development, took place on 1-2 February 2024.

The four rural roads, funded under concessional financing from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as part of the third phase of the Rural Road Improvement Project, have a combined length of 57.219 km. Each road is strategically designed to enhance accessibility and connectivity in various districts of Svay Rieng province.

  1. SVR2 – Cattle Barn to Wat Svay Paem (11.87 km): This two-story paved road (DBST) facilitates smoother travel from the cattle barn to Wat Svay Paem in Svay Chrum district.
  2. SVR3 – Chak Market to Pong Teuk (9.166 km): A double-decker paved road (DBST) spanning from Chak market to Pong Teuk in Romduol district, promoting connectivity in the region.
  3. SVR4 – Prey Keav to Kampong Ampil (24.959 km): This extensive two-story paved road (DBST) connects Prey Keav to Kampong Ampil in Romduol district, contributing to improved transportation infrastructure.
  4. SVR5 – Preah Ponlea to Samyong (12.007 km): Enhancing connectivity from Preah Ponlea to Samyong in Kampong Ror district, this double-decker paved road (DBST) supports smoother travel for local residents.

Commencing construction in August 2020, the completion of these projects by the end of 2023 marks a crucial step in bolstering rural development and ensuring that communities have reliable and efficient road networks.
