Gov’t plans to build two national roads with a length of more than 200 km in Ratanakkiri province

The Cambodian Government plans to build two new national roads, the first from Ratanakkiri province to Vern Sai district and the second line to Kantouy Neak in 2028, with a total length of more than 200 km, using the national budget. This is according to the press conference on “Success in the past 5 years” of Ratanakkiri Provincial Administration on April 4, 2023.

According to the director of the Ratanakkiri Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, the state is not only building a road to Vern Sai district but also connecting it to O’Kriel, Stung Treng province.

The road is divided into 2 sections: the first section is red gravel from O’Chum to Vern Sai district with a length of 28.52 km and the other section is a dirt road to the border of Cambodia and Laos with a length of 104 km. 45 km, the total length of these two sections is 132.97 km.

The director of the department confirmed that the government has been planning to build this road since 2022, but due to the economic and social situation, the project was moved to build in 2027.

Separately, the road project to the Kantouy Neak area, a project in the national road system called Road 78, with a length of 191 km, is also planned to be built in 2028.

This road is divided into 3 types: 1). Distributed as DBST from Banlung to Tang Nang Ley village, length 21.95 km 2). From Tang Nang Le village to Ta Veng district, a type of rock mix with a length of 25.9 km and 3). From Ta Veng district to Kantouy Neak area 143.99 km.

He added that the road to Vern Sai will start in 2027, and the road to Kantouy Neak will start in 2028 but may start before those years, depending on the leadership.

It should be noted that the road to Kantouy Neak can only travel to the Ta Veng district, if you want to get there, you must travel back from Vietnam.
