Phnom Penh Autonomous Port Sees Significant Growth with Over 250 TEUs, 14% Increase, in First Half of 2024

In the first seven months of 2024, Phnom Penh Autonomous Port (PPAP) reported a notable increase in activity, handling over 250,000 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) of containers, reflecting a 14.94% rise compared to the same period in 2023. This surge in volume underscores the port’s growing importance in regional trade, according to the data released by PPAP on 12 August 2024.

July 2024 alone saw the port manage 55,265 TEUs, an increase of 12.76% from July 2023, when it handled 49,011 TEUs. Additionally, the port experienced significant growth in several other areas during the first seven months of 2024.

Over 2.72 million tons of goods and fuel passed through the port, representing a 10% increase from the previous year. The number of ships docking at the port exceeded 3,000, up by nearly 9%, while passenger ships surpassed 300, marking a growth of over 24%. The port also saw a substantial increase in passenger traffic, welcoming more than 20,000 passengers, a rise of over 70%.

The port’s financial performance has also been strong. In the first quarter of 2024, Phnom Penh Autonomous Port generated approximately USD 8,064,657 in revenue, showing a 7% increase from the same period in 2023. However, it is important to note that these figures are yet to be audited, according to the press release issued on 12 April 2024. (Read more)
